Freeform ceramics

  • Stackwood 10 Stack Street Fremantle, WA (map)

Price: $159

This flexible class is perfect for those with big ideas or those who want to continue learning about ceramics without being limited to making a particular object.

You can choose to make whatever you like, including mugs, cups, vases, bowls, functional ware, or even your own sculpture. Using dark stoneware clay, you'll learn to assemble from a starting slab. I'll guide you through any tweaks to customise your design, and you'll have the chance to experiment with techniques like slab, coil, and pinch.

You'll be provided with 800 grams of clay to work with. The only restriction is wide platters that won't fit into the kiln. I'll also help ensure your pieces have the integrity to hold up in the kiln, ensuring they are not too thin and can be finished on time.

For those undecided on what to make, there will be ideas and templates available.

Important details
I will glaze and fire your piece, with the cost included in your ticket. I take great care in finishing your handmade items, but please note that clay can be unpredictable, and occasionally items may break in the kiln. This is a natural part of the ceramic craft.

Your work will be ready for pick-up approximately 5-6 weeks after the class. I will contact you when they are ready. Please note that I can hold works for up to 4 weeks from the date of your workshop. After this period, any unclaimed pieces will unfortunately be discarded.

Terms and conditions
All ticket sales are final, non-refundable and dates are non-transferable. If you are unable to make your date you are able to send someone else in your place.
